The Easire® Player Update: A Self-Service Guide on How to Upgrade & Set Up

As you may have already heard, the latest version of our Easire® Player is here, and it's a complete revolution. If this is news to you, we recommend first checking out our dedicated launch article for the full rundown on what's new.

For those of you who are already familiar with the Easire® Player and have an application developed by Interactive Scape, this is your detailed self-service guide. We'll walk you through everything you need to know about the new update, how it works, and how to get your existing setup running on the latest version.

First of all, when should you update?

We recommend updating to the new Easire® Player if your Interactive Scape application was developed by us and you hold an active support subscription. Please note that the new Easire® Player is currently only supported on Windows systems.

How to Update to the New Easire® Player

The new Easire® Player is engineered to simplify your workflow, starting from the installation. Follow this simple guide to upgrade and unlock a modern, more efficient experience.

You only need to follow these steps once to get the new Player installed.

  1. Download the latest Easire® Player installer file via my.easire.com
  2. Run the installer: Double-click the file to start the process.
  3. Follow the instructions on the installer: They will guide you through the process, which includes cleanly uninstalling your previous version of the Easire® Player.
    • Heads Up: The uninstallation of the old player may require administrator rights. If you don't have them, the process will abort: in this case, please reach out to your admin team.
  4. Enjoy the new Player: The new version no longer needs administrator rights for installation!
  5. Launch the Player: Open the new Easire® Player from the Windows Start Menu.
    • Pro-Tip: Right-click on the icon in the Start Menu and select "Pin to taskbar" for lightning-fast access.

Setup Made Simple: Navigating the New Configuration User Interface

You may notice an alert symbol next to the Extended Setup: It appears because the new Easire® Player has replaced manual, error-prone command line arguments with user-friendly property fields, buttons, and dropdown menus for the most common configurations. What once required manual typing, now takes a simple click (or touch).

How to Resolve the Alert Symbol (and Simplify Your Setup):

  • Click the Alert Symbol: Open the Extended Setup and click on the alert symbol. A text field will appear explaining exactly what change is recommended.
  • Follow the Guidance: For example, the message may state that you should now use the Touch Input property instead of manually writing -input tuio in the Command Line Arguments.
  • Choose Your Setting: Head to the new Touch Input property and select your preference (e.g., TUIO or Mouse Input) from the dropdown menu.
  • Click "Remove": Once you've set the new property, you can click the 'Remove' option in the text field with the red border. This action safely deletes the unnecessary command from the Command Line Arguments field, and your setup is now modernized and clean. You can also delete it manually from the text input field.

This new system ensures your configuration is more reliable and significantly faster to manage!

Future-Proofing Your Experience: Staying Up-to-Date is Easier Than Ever

Once you have the new Easire® Player installed, you'll never have to manually download a new installer again. When a new version is available, an Update Pop-up will automatically appear, prompting you to install the latest features and fixes. We highly recommend always running the latest updates, as soon as they are available.

Did you close the pop-up by accident? No problem! You can always find the manual update option in the "About" menu section of the Easire® Player: There will be an alert icon which clearly indicates that a new version is available.
