FAQ

Which Interactive Scape products have an integrated PC?

With an integrated application PC: Scape® Pro and Scape® Movable

Without an integrated application PC: Scape® Tangible and, as standard, Scape® Lab

With Scape® Pro and Scape® Movable, the PC is integrated into the table system. The installation space, cabling, ventilation and power-on mechanism are designed specifically for the available PC models. Scape® Tangible displays contain an internal processing unit for the touch and object recognition firmware, but the application itself runs on an external PC or laptop. Scape® Lab is also supplied without a PC as standard, allowing different computers to be used flexibly. A suitable PC can be supplied as an option. The latest PC specifications can be found in the webshop on the relevant product page under “Models and Specifications” → “Technical Data”. The configuration may vary depending on the product model and application requirements.

What warranty or statutory warranty applies to the hardware?

The warranty and liability for defects provisions agreed in the respective quotation, purchase contract and General Terms and Conditions apply to the hardware.

Their scope and duration may vary depending on the product, component and project configuration. Any additional warranties, warranty extensions or service agreements are stated separately. Binding information can therefore be found in the relevant contractual and order documents.

For specific questions, please contact sales@interactive-scape.com.

What environmental conditions are the devices designed for, and can they be used outdoors?

The devices are designed for use in dry, controlled indoor environments. They should be protected from moisture, condensation, direct sunlight, dust and extreme temperatures.

As the standard devices do not have a specified protection rating for outdoor environments, unprotected outdoor use is not intended.

An outdoor installation is only possible following an individual technical assessment and with a suitable protective enclosure. Information about permitted temperatures and other environmental conditions can be found on the product page under “Technical Specifications” and in the manual under “General Information” and “Technical Specifications.”

Is the PC already integrated in the Scape® Tangible Displays and various tables or do I need an external PC?

Our Scape® Tangible displays do not have a built-in application PC. The advantage for you is that you are free to choose a PC that meets your specific requirements and can upgrade it as and when necessary, without the display itself being a factor. The displays contain a processing unit running the firmware that enables touch and object recognition.

However, applications require an external computer, which must be connected to the display via a video output, USB (USB Touch) or Ethernet (TUIO) cable. We can supply this PC pre-configured, but this is not essential – you can also use your own PC or laptop.

With our tables, it depends: the Scape® Lab is supplied without a PC as standard, as it is often purchased by universities, institutes, etc., which wish to use the same table across several departments and therefore with different PCs. With Scape® Pro and Movable, the PC is an integral part of the overall design and features bespoke storage compartments for our PC models, as well as appropriate cabling, ventilation, etc. In this case, it is not advisable to use your own PC – although this is technically possible; please contact us to clarify any uncertainties in this regard.

How should I clean and maintain the touch surface?

Whenever possible, disconnect the device from the power supply before cleaning. First remove dust and loose particles using a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth. For more persistent marks, the cloth can be slightly dampened with water or a suitable display cleaner.

Never spray liquids directly onto the device and avoid dripping-wet cloths, abrasive products, aggressive glass cleaners and solvents. Excessive pressure on the surface should also be avoided.

Further information can be found in the respective manual in the “Cleaning Instructions” section. The compatibility of disinfectants should be checked before regular use.

How much power do the displays and tables consume?

Power consumption depends on the specific model, display size and configuration. A multitouch table with an integrated high-performance PC, for example, requires more power than a standalone display connected to an external PC.

Actual consumption may also vary depending on display brightness, the application and PC workload. The relevant figures for each product can be found on the respective product page under “Technical Specifications” and in the corresponding manual in the “Technical Specifications” section.

How many IDs are available and can be used on the display at the same time?

With our patented Scape X® Object Recognition, you benefit from maximum rotational angle and positional accuracy, sensitivity and speed (without jerkiness). Our AI-trained displays recognise up to 24 unique IDs as standard; for bespoke requirements, we can provide 100+ unique IDs.
